Lifestyle Rural Lifestyle Northern Midlands residents enjoy a high quality lifestyle, with many choosing to live the rural life in the area's historic towns and villages, whilst being close enough to the cities of Launceston and Hobart to access and enjoy the urban services and workplaces.
The area has a number of excellent recreational areas and sporting facilities, and in particular, is renowned for its trout fishing rivers and lakes.
Climate
The Northern Midlands climate is temperate maritime with moderate seasonal variations. As with all of Northern Tasmania, no one point is more than 80 kilometres from the sea.
The average maximum temperature is 16.8 degrees Celsius. The average minimum is 6.2 degrees Celsius. In comparison, Sydney has an average maximum of 21.5 degrees Celsius and an average minimum of 13.7 degrees Celsius.
Both Launceston Airport and Sydney recorded the same number of hours of sunlight per day at 6.8. There are an average of 137 rainy days compared to Sydney with 138.
The annual level of rainfall is 689mm at Launceston Airport and 950mm at Rossarden in the eastern area of the Northern Midlands. Sydney's annual level of rainfall is 1,220mm.Housing
